Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Review!!!

The Star Wars franchise has been a big hit in the past and with millions of fans the newest film had to fulfill high expectations. These were not aided by the fact that the film has been hyped up throughout the year with several companies using Star Wars in their advertisements. Even if you live under a rock you could not escape Star Wars this year. This hype allowed for the film to reach over $50 million in pre-order ticket sales. Now that the film has been officially released fans are nervous to see if the film fulfilled such galactic expectations.

(Warning Mild Spoilers Ahead)

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was a wonderfully executed movie, surpassing expectations on everything from dialogue, visual effects, and story line. This newest entry into the franchise was not as dark as some previous films and even introduced comedy throughout the film. The Force Awakens saw the return of many characters from the original trilogy including Han Solo, Princess Leia, and for a brief moment Luke Skywalker as well as introducing a whole new set of characters such as Rey, BB-8, Kylo Ren, and Finn. The film also excels in character development as we learn a lot about the past of Leia and Han Solo’s relationship as well as the past of Kylo Ren.

The Force Awakens follows the same premise of the original trilogy including a dark leader controlling the ropes from the shadows as well as an apprentice. The weapon used in this movie also bears a resemblance to the Death Star with the exception that it is much, much larger and that it gets its power from eating suns. Kylo Ren, the apprentice to the dark side in this film is the son of Han Solo and Leia. After feeling disappointed in his father Kylo was sent away, which eventually pushed him towards the dark side.

The Force Awakens¬†left us with just as many questions as it did answers such as who is Rey’s parents, where did Snoke come from, and what pushed Kylo “Ben” Ren towards the dark side. Hopefully, the next film in the trilogy will reveal more backstory.
